The New South Wales Government says it wants to ban what it calls outdoor cigarette sales tents at big music events across the state.
Assistant Health Minister Verity Firth says that cigarettes can be sold from mobile sites, like tents and stalls, under existing laws.
Ms Firth says it is a marketing ploy that targets young people.
"We’ve seen a growing trend of cigarette companies to go and set up outdoor sales tents at large-scale music events," she said.
"We believe the real problem with this is that it’s a marketing gimmick very much promoting sales of cigarettes to the young, partly because they’re the people that attend those festivals."
